UNICEF’s Hidden Heroes

As the account director of the boutique communications agency Grey Horse, Sabrina led the marketing and publicity campaign for Hidden Heroes, an original UNICEF podcast produced by Principle Pictures. Season 1 of Hidden Heroes tells the stories of women and girls fighting gender injustice in eight countries during the COVID-19 pandemic, including Afghanistan’s famous all-girls robotics team. Hidden Heroes was a 2022 Webby Awards Honoree in the Public Service & Activism Podcasts category.

Vote for Love and Justice with Wonder Woman

Ahead of the 2020 U.S. presidential election campaign, Sabrina brokered a relationship between the fan activist nonprofit Fandom Forward and legendary Wonder Woman actor Lynda Carter. Together, Sabrina worked with them to build a nonpartisan voter education campaign called Vote for Love and Justice with Wonder Woman, outlining creative steps fans can take to get out the vote and help members of their community register to vote all through the lens of heroine Diana Prince’s story. You can view and download the booklet here.

Uplift: Online Communities Against Sexual Violence

In 2016-17, Sabrina led two back-to-back winning Project for Awesome campaigns as a volunteer campaign manager for Uplift, a nonprofit organization that combats sexual abuse and harassment in fandoms and online communities through education and advocacy. She produced official video entries on behalf of the organization and encouraged fans to submit their own videos, helping Uplift garner more votes. As a result, Uplift won grants during both years, gaining tens of thousands of dollars in much-needed support. Sabrina also served as an Uplift facilitator, providing sexual harassment intervention and prevention training for staff and volunteers at MAGFest, one of the largest music and gaming festivals in the United States.

Remarkist

In 2021, Sabrina began working with actor John Cabrera and a group of his fans to facilitate nightly viewings of the hit show Gilmore Girls, which he was known for but had never seen. Cabrera’s idea to connect with fans over these watch parties soon evolved into Remarkist, an audio-first community app and ecosystem that allows fandoms to convene to watch their favorites shows and movies, play games, chat, build a fan economy, and engage in other fannish traditions together. Sabrina regularly writes for the official Remarkist blog and advises Remarkist’s founders and development team on trends in fandom and online communities.
